Dimitar Ivanov

Dr. Dimitar Ivanov is a world-class macroeconomist with expertise in Citizen Economic Empowerment (CEE) policy, politics, economics and financial service industry relationships. He is a Managing Director and Senior Advisor at Gerken Capital Management.

Dr. Ivanov is a former senior strategic advisor to Bank Austria, a former economic advisor to the President of the Republic of Bulgaria (2002-2007) and a member of the President's International Economic Advisory Board. He is Economic Advisor to the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vienna. He is an expert in financial and debt restructuring, M & A, economic crises and public sector reforms. With 36 years of experience, Dr. Ivanov is a recognized international investment strategist; an expert on emerging markets and consultant on strategic investment.

A distinguished visiting scholar and professor, he has taught in Paris, Moscow, Sofia, Tokyo, Pittsburgh, and Warwick, Sheffield and London. He is published widely in the field of international economics and finance, public sector restructuring, restructuring of emerging market economies, economic crises and cycles, foreign investment climate and competitiveness, and Eastern European reforms.

Dr. Ivanov has lived in London since 1991.

Dr. Ivanov received his Ph.D. in Economics and attended the senior doctoral program at the prestigious Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris under the personal guidance of Professor Raymond Barre, former Finance Minister of France. Dr. Ivanov speaks fluent English, French, Russian, Bulgarian, and Serb-Croat.
