Peter G. Ellis


Peter Ellis is an architect and designer of cities.  He has designed major buildings and cities around the world while he was a partner of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, and presently with his own firm, Peter Ellis New Cities. 

He designed Jaypee Sports City, located 30 miles south of New Delhi, for a population of one million people.  He is presently engaged in the revitalization of the American rust belt city, Gary, Indiana. Among his favorite architectural commissions are the headquarters for Philips Electronics in Amsterdam and the studios for Electronic Arts in Redwood Shores, California.

Raised in Athens, Greece, Peter attended the American College in Halandri and then enrolled at the American College in Paris.  He returned to the United States to attend the College of Architecture at Cornell University, where he graduated in 1971.

Mr. Ellis is married to Paula Garrett-Ellis, an artist and educator.  She founded Now Art India, a collaborative of woman artists, and organized several exhibits of their work in New Delhi.  Their daughter, Cara, is also an architect-artist, now practicing at Cannon Design San Francisco.
