E. Lewis Reid


Mr. Reid was a founder of Marron-Reid, LLC, a Northern California law firm with its home office in San Francisco. He practiced law for over three decades, primarily in the areas of corporate transactions and tax law. In 1998 he left law practice to become President and CEO of The California Endowment, the largest health-related charitable foundation in California. He stepped down as President and CEO in 2000, remaining on the Board of Trustees of The California Endowment until 2009.

His other previous professional positions include: Lecturer in Law, University of California, Berkeley, School of Law and Minority Counsel, U.S. Senate Committee on Interior and Insular Affairs. He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, the Community Foundation Sonoma County and the Larry L. Hillblom Foundation.

Mr. Reid’s former civic activities include: Director, Sonoma Land Trust; Chairman and President, Joseph Banks Society; Chairman and President, American Society for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; Director, Chairman and President, The American Trust for Wolfson College (Oxford); Councilor, The American Land Conservancy; Advisory Director, University of Southern California Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy; Advisory Director, East Bay Regional Parks Botanic Garden and Supernumerary Fellow, Wolfson College (Oxford).
