Double Xs

Members of the Buck women’s group, the Double Xs, are passionate about empowering girls and women in science education. Based on the Impact 100 model, the group aims to improve the lives of women by funding significant grants that make a lasting impact.
Meeting once a quarter at the Institute or hosted in member homes, the Double Xs receive updates on the latest research from Buck scientists as well as tips on nutrition and a healthy lifestyle. The Double Xs collectively fund projects that focus on K-12 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education, as well as graduate and postdoctoral fellowships with each woman contributing $1,000 to the effort.
This past year, the Double Xs provided scholarships for young people to attend one of our summer camps.  The group looks forward to expanding their support to postdoctoral fellows this year.
