Buck Advisory Member Spotlight
SPOTLIGHT ON BAC MEMBER
Jim Harpel is among the earliest BAC members. He is senior partner of Palm Beach Capital Partners and general partner of First Reserve Corporation, both private equity firms.
While Jim’s tremendous professional success in finance, investing and venture capital is well known, his credentials in international affairs are less well publicized.
Jim is a director at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the J.F.K. School of Government of Harvard University. Additionally, he is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Dean’s International Council of the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.
We turned to Jim to deliver the keynote talk at the fall 2013 Buck Advisory Council conference in Lisbon. His talk, “Political Entropy and the Most Successful of the Great Apes,” reflects his wide-ranging intellectual grasp of history, politics, foreign affairs, economics, finance, poetry, psychology and anthropology. We salute Jim Harpel and all of his accomplishments.
