Healthy aging
Buck Institute scientists’ use of model organisms, such as microscopic nematode worms, fruit flies, yeast, and mice, provides powerful and convenient biological “toolboxes” with which to investigate the complex changes that occur during aging and monitor alterations in the rate of aging caused by genetic, biochemical, nutritional or environmental manipulations. Lifespan can be extended in all of these model organisms. Understanding the key molecular components that affect lifespan extension allows scientists to identify age-related change. This knowledge will provide vital insights into human diseases where age is a risk factor, and aid in developing treatments to cure or delay the onset of these diseases.
Extending The HealthyYes! I'd like to support the Buck Institute for Age Research and help scientists in their efforts to add healthy years to our lives.
